Build an Online Thrift Store for One-of-a-Kind Second-Hand Items
An online thrift store is different from a normal shop: every product is a quantity of one, and it must disappear the moment it sells, wherever it sells. Describe your shop to Mythex and it builds the store with item photos, condition notes, real measurements and local furniture delivery, on a real database you change by chatting.
Who it's for
Thrift, vintage and charity shops that sell their best pieces through social posts and DMs, have accidentally sold the same jacket twice, and want a proper shop without paying marketplace fees on every item.
What you can build
- Single-item listings linked to the tag number
- Several photos per item on a consistent backdrop
- Condition notes and real garment measurements
- Furniture with collection or local delivery by area
- Items removed instantly when sold in store
- New drops published on a set day
Quantity of one, sold once
Each listing is linked to a single item record with its tag number. When the item sells online, it is marked sold and staff get a pick list with the tag number to pull it from the rail. When it sells at the till first, the listing is removed straight away. That one rule is what makes an online second-hand shop workable.
- One record per physical item
- Pick list by tag number
- Till sales remove the listing
Measurements beat label sizes
A 1980s size 12 is not a modern size 12. List pit-to-pit, length, waist and inside leg for clothing, and width, depth and height for furniture. Add honest condition notes, like a small mark on the cuff, with a photo of it. Buyers cannot try things on, and honest notes are what keep returns low and reviews kind.
Furniture needs local delivery
Do not offer standard shipping on a wardrobe. Offer collection from the shop, or delivery priced by area or postcode zone, with a note on stairs and access. Ask Mythex for a delivery fee table by zone and a delivery date picker that matches the days your van goes out.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not list items before they are photographed and measured; half-listings get ignored. Do not leave sold items visible as 'sold' forever, which clutters browsing; keep a small 'recently sold' section instead. And pick one drop day a week so regulars know when to look.
A prompt to start from
Build an online store for my vintage and thrift shop. Each product is a single item with its tag number, three to six photos, category, era, condition notes and measurements. When an item sells online it is marked sold and added to a pick list; when it sells in the shop I mark it sold and the listing disappears. Furniture offers collection or local delivery priced by zone.
Questions
How do I stop the same item selling twice?
Each listing is one item record. A sale online or at the till marks it sold, and it is removed from the shop at once.
Can I take card payments?
Yes, through a payment provider you connect with your own account. Mythex builds the checkout around it.
Can I list items from my phone?
Yes. Ask for a phone listing screen with photo upload, measurements and price.
Is it free to start?
Yes. Build and publish on the Free plan with no card. Pro is $25 a month for a custom domain, code editing, export and more credits.
Do I need coding skills?
No. You describe the shop and refine it by chatting.
