How we compared

We compared each plan's publicly listed price, limits and features on Canva's and Adobe's own pricing pages in October 2026, viewed with US pricing. We did not run a hands-on design test or rate the quality of AI images, which change often and are hard to judge fairly. Canva counts AI usage as a monthly allowance of "uses" across Standard, Premium and Ultra tools; Adobe counts generative credits. They aren't the same unit, so compare them against the AI features you'd use. Where a vendor's page gave two different numbers for the same thing, we left it out or said so.

Pricing in more detail

Canva

As of October 2026, Canva's pricing page lists:

  • Free: US$0. 1,000+ design types, 1.6M+ templates, 4.7M+ photos, videos, graphics and audio, 1 Brand Kit (3 colours only), 5 GB storage and up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses. Access to Affinity is included.
  • Pro: US$144 a year for one person. 3.6M+ templates including premium, 141M+ premium assets, 5 Brand Kits, social content scheduling, 100 GB storage and AI tools such as resize, translate and background removal. Canva says Pro has 10x more AI than Free: up to 200 Premium or 20 Ultra AI uses, with Standard AI tools not using the allowance (fair use limits apply).
  • Business: US$250 a year per person, for individuals and teams. Adds collaboration and team admin tools, 100 Brand Kits with approvals, Flourish for data visuals, 500 GB storage and 20x the Free plan's AI.
  • Enterprise: contact sales. SSO and SCIM, 1,000 Brand Kits, 1 TB storage.

An AI Pass add-on is available at extra cost on Pro and Business. Canva says its older Teams plan is no longer available for new sign-ups. The page shows a Monthly/Yearly switch and says yearly billing saves "from 16%".

Adobe Express

As of October 2026, Adobe Express pricing lists:

  • Free: US$0, no credit card. 100,000+ static and video templates, 1M+ Adobe Stock assets, 4,000+ Adobe Fonts, scheduling to 1 account per social network, 10 days of version history and 5 GB storage. Generative features use "free daily generations", plus 5 lifetime uses of Generate Presentations and 2 lifetime 5-second videos.
  • Premium: US$9.99 a month, billed monthly with no annual commitment, with a 30-day free trial. All premium templates, 200M+ Adobe Stock assets, the full Adobe Fonts collection (30,000+), 250 generative credits a month, brand kits, one-click resize, video background removal, scheduling to 3 accounts per network and 30 days of version history.
  • Firefly Pro: US$19.99 a month. Everything in Premium plus 4,000 monthly credits for premium AI video and audio, access to partner AI models (Adobe names Google, OpenAI and Flux), and full Photoshop on web and mobile.
  • Teams: regularly US$7.99 per licence a month, or US$4.99 in the first year, on an annual plan billed monthly with a 2-seat minimum. 250 credits per user, brand controls, template locking and 1 TB per user of pooled storage.
  • Enterprise: contact sales; select plans include IP indemnification for Firefly-generated images.

Adobe's page gives two different storage figures for Premium in different sections, so we haven't quoted one.

Where each one is stronger

Canva is stronger for

  • Sheer choice. Millions more templates and assets than Adobe Express, on both the free and paid plans.
  • One tool for everything. Canva lists presentations, docs, whiteboards, sheets, video, emails, print products and websites on every plan, including Free.
  • Teams of non-designers. Shared Brand Kits with approvals on Business, real-time collaboration, and a workflow most people pick up quickly.
  • Print. Canva Print is built in, with a 10% discount on Business where it's offered.

Adobe Express is stronger for

  • Monthly budget. US$9.99 a month with no annual commitment is easy to start and stop.
  • Fonts and stock quality. The full Adobe Fonts library and Adobe Stock on Premium.
  • Commercial use of AI images. Adobe describes its Firefly features as designed to be commercially safe, and offers IP indemnification on select Enterprise plans.
  • Adobe workflows. You can add and sync .psd and .ai files, so edits in Photoshop or Illustrator carry through, and Firefly Pro adds Photoshop on web and mobile.
  • Free PDF tools. Free includes 10 PDF Quick Actions a month (edit, combine, organise); Premium makes them unlimited.

Design tools vs working apps

Both tools can publish a simple web page. Canva lists "design and launch websites" on every plan, and Adobe Express has webpage features. That's fine for a one-page flyer or event page.

They stop at design, though. If the page needs to save sign-ups, let customers log in, take bookings or show data from a database, you need a real app. An AI app builder like Mythex covers that part: you describe the app in chat, see it in a live preview, and publish it to a URL in one click, with a database, login and file storage when it needs them. Free gives 5 credits a day; Pro starts at $25 a month. Many people design graphics in Canva or Adobe Express and use them inside the app. For tips on getting a polished result, see how to design a good-looking app with AI, and for a landing page, how to build a landing page that converts.

If all you need is graphics, posts and slides, stick with Canva or Adobe Express. They are the better tools for that job.

Verdict

  • Canva is the better all-rounder: more templates, more formats and the smoothest team workflow. Pro at US$144 a year is good value if you'll use it all year.
  • Adobe Express is the better pick for a lower monthly price, Adobe Fonts and Stock, and AI that Adobe positions as commercially safe, especially if you already use Adobe apps.
  • Try both free plans with the same task, such as a week of social posts in your brand colours, before paying.
