Comic Shop Apps: Pull Lists, New Releases and Game Nights, Built with AI
Mythex builds a comic book store website and the tools behind the counter from a chat: a weekly new-releases page, an online pull list signup, a customer list that flags boxes nobody has collected, and table booking for game nights. Each one gets its own database and publishes to a public link, so you can stop running pull lists from a spreadsheet.
What a comic shop needs from its software
A comic shop's week turns on release day. Distributor orders go in months before the books exist, so every pull list is a promise you have already paid for. When a regular stops coming in, their box keeps filling with issues you cannot return. Software for a comic store has to keep pull lists honest, show which titles actually sell through, and keep rack copies apart from the copies set aside for subscribers. The evening trade matters too: game nights, campaigns and tournaments need tables and seats that do not double-book. Most shops already run on a point-of-sale till, so what is missing is the layer around it: subscribers, uncollected boxes, events and the weekly release list.
- Pull lists per customer, with titles added and dropped over time
- A last-collected date so abandoned boxes show up in week three, not month three
- Sell-through per title to guide the next distributor order
- Pulled copies counted separately from rack copies on delivery day
- Gaming tables and tournament seats that cannot be double-booked
- A new-releases list published the night before release day
What you can build for comic book stores
A pull list manager that spots the box nobody is collecting
Every subscriber gets a record with their titles, the date each was added or dropped, and the date they last picked up. A filter lists boxes untouched for three weeks or more, so you send a friendly message while the stack is still small. Notes cover interests beyond comics, like a regular who also plays Warhammer, which helps when you stock something new.
Build a pull list manager for my comic shop. Each customer has a name, email, phone, pull list titles with date added and dropped, and last collection date. Show a list of boxes not collected in 3+ weeks, and let staff mark a box as collected in one tap.
A shop website built around release day
The homepage leads with this week's new comics, posted the night before so regulars can plan their visit. Further down: how pull lists work and how long you hold a box, the game night calendar, and a starter shelf of graphic novels for people who walked in after seeing a film. Staff update the release list from an admin page, not by editing the site.
Make a website for my comic book store with a 'New this week' page staff can update from an admin screen, a page explaining pull lists and our 6-week hold policy, a game night calendar, and a 'Where to start' page of graphic novel picks for new readers.
Table booking for game nights and campaigns
Each gaming table is a bookable resource with hourly slots. Groups running a campaign can book the same table weekly, birthday parties can take the back room, and you can block every table on tournament nights. A small table fee that turns into store credit keeps people from booking and not showing up.
Build a booking page for the 6 gaming tables in my shop. Groups book by the hour from 4pm to 11pm, can repeat a booking weekly for a campaign, and I can block all tables for tournament nights. Show tonight's bookings on an admin page.
Stock tracking that keeps pulled copies off the rack
On delivery day, enter each title's quantity received, then split it into pulled copies and rack copies so a regular's issue never gets sold off the shelf. Back issues get their own records with condition and price, and games and collectibles carry reorder levels. Unsold issues can be flagged for returns when your distributor allows it.
Make an inventory app for my comic shop. For each weekly issue record quantity ordered, received, pulled for subscribers and left for the rack. Track back issues individually with grade and price, and games with a reorder level that turns red when low.
A sell-through dashboard for your next distributor order
Load ordered and sold numbers per title and the dashboard shows sell-through, the figure that should decide how many copies you order next time. It also counts active pull lists week by week, splits sales between comics, graphic novels, games and collectibles, and compares event-night takings with ordinary evenings.
Build a dashboard for my comic shop showing sell-through per title (sold divided by ordered), the number of active pull lists by week, sales split by comics, graphic novels, games and collectibles, and tournament night sales compared with normal nights.
Registration for tournaments and signings
Tournaments get player caps and a waiting list, so you know how many tables and prize packs to prepare before the night. Creator signings can cap the queue and release parties can take RSVPs. Each event page links back to your shop, and sold-out nights roll people onto the waitlist automatically.
Create an events page for my comic shop with registration for card game tournaments (capped at 32 players with a waitlist), creator signings with a queue limit, and release party RSVPs. Show me the sign-up list for each event.
From pull list spreadsheet to a comic book store app
Most shops start with a spreadsheet of subscribers and titles. Export it as CSV and ask Mythex to import it into the pull list manager; each row becomes a customer with their titles. From then on, staff update collections at the counter instead of editing cells. Start with the customer list and the uncollected-box filter, because that is where money leaks. Add the release page next, then table booking once evening events pick up.
- Day one: subscribers, titles and last-collected dates
- Week one: new-releases page and pull list signup form
- Later: sell-through dashboard, tournaments and a members discount
A membership that rewards predictable ordering
A pull list discount is the cleanest membership a comic shop can run, because the customers who get it are the ones who make your orders predictable. Mythex can build a members area with tiers, renewal dates, early access to store-exclusive variants and member pricing on game nights. Keep the rule simple, such as ten percent off with five or more titles on your list, so staff can explain it in one sentence.
Questions
Can customers start a pull list online?
Yes. A signup form saves the reader's name, contact details and chosen titles to your database. You review new lists in the admin page and confirm them when you place the next distributor order.
Can I import my existing pull list spreadsheet?
Yes. Export it as a CSV and ask Mythex in chat to import it. Each customer and their titles become records you can then filter, update and search.
Does it replace my point-of-sale till?
It is not built to be a card terminal. Most shops keep their till for sales and use Mythex for pull lists, release pages, table booking and reporting. If you want daily sales in the dashboard, you can upload an export from your till.
Can I sell graphic novels and back issues online?
Yes. Mythex can build a store with series and volume order, individually graded back issues and pre-orders. Card payments use a payment provider account you connect, and you can offer collection with the customer's pull box as a delivery option.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You describe the app in plain language, watch it appear in a live preview, and change it by chatting. The code is there if you or a friend ever want to look at it.
Is it free?
The Free plan needs no credit card and gives you daily credits, which is enough to build and publish a first version. Pro is $25 a month and adds code editing, export, a custom domain and credit top-ups.
