Glossary / Custom domain

What is a custom domain?

A custom domain is your own web address, such as yourbusiness.com, used for your site or app instead of the default address a platform gives you.

Platforms usually publish your app at an address that includes their name. That works for testing, but a business wants its own name in the address bar, on business cards and in emails.

You buy a domain from a registrar for a yearly fee, then point it at your app by adding DNS records. The platform checks the records and sets up a secure HTTPS certificate.

Pick something short, easy to spell when said aloud, and not too close to another brand. It is common to use a subdomain such as app.yourbusiness.com for the app and keep the main domain for the website.

Custom domains in Mythex are on the Pro plan.
