Glide Alternatives: 6 Ways to Build Apps From Your Data

Glide alternatives compared: Softr, AppSheet, Adalo, Bubble, FlutterFlow and Mythex. User-based pricing, data sources and who each app builder suits.

Mythex Team · Updated 2026-10-27 · 6 min read

The main Glide alternatives are Softr for client portals and internal tools on top of data you already have, AppSheet for teams on Google Workspace, Adalo and FlutterFlow if you need an app in the App Store and Google Play, Bubble for complex web apps, and an AI app builder such as Mythex when you want a custom app with code you can export. Glide is still one of the best tools for turning a spreadsheet into a working team app. People usually move because of user-based pricing, data limits or a need for features Glide doesn't cover.

What Glide offers today

Glide now has two products, and it says they need separate subscriptions.

Glide Classic is the original no-code platform for building apps on Glide Tables, Google Sheets, Airtable, Excel and, on Enterprise, SQL databases. As of September 2026:

  • Free: 1 editor, unlimited drafts, up to 25,000 rows.
  • Business: from $199 a month billed yearly. 30 users included, then $5 per extra user ($6 on monthly billing); 5,000 updates included, then 2¢ each; 10 editors, unlimited published apps, workflows, custom domains, custom branding and the Glide API. There's a 14-day free trial.
  • Enterprise: custom, with SSO, data backups and more data sources.

An "update" is Glide's unit for data changes and syncs with outside sources. Glide says its own tables don't use updates.

GlideOS is what Glide calls an AI software development platform for internal business apps built from a spreadsheet, a prompt or a file. As of September 2026: Free ($0, no published apps), Basic $25 a month (100 credits, 2 published apps), Plus $50 (250 credits, 5 published apps, public apps) and Pro $125 (from 5 team members and 500 credits, unlimited published apps).

Why people look for Glide alternatives

  1. User-based pricing. Glide Classic's Business plan starts with 30 users included. For a small team that's more than needed; for a large app, extra users and updates add up.
  2. Outside users. Portals for clients or members need sign-up, permissions and user counts that fit many external people.
  3. Native mobile apps. Some projects need to be in the App Store and Google Play.
  4. Complex logic. Multi-step workflows and custom rules can outgrow a spreadsheet-driven builder.
  5. Ownership. Some teams want code they can export and host elsewhere.

How we compared

We compared publicly stated features, limits and prices on each vendor's own pricing pages as of September 2026. We didn't do hands-on testing and left out anything we couldn't confirm there. Glide's individual Classic plans (Explorer and Maker) didn't show prices on the page we checked, so we don't quote them. Mythex facts come from our own documentation.

Softr: the closest alternative for portals

Softr builds business apps, portals and internal tools with an AI co-builder and a no-code editor, on Softr Databases or data you already have in Airtable, Google Sheets, SQL databases and other tools.

  • Plans (as of September 2026, billed yearly): Free (5 app users, 5,000 records); Basic $19 a month (custom domain, 5 team plus 5 client users); Pro $99 (branding removal, Google sign-in, granular permissions, 10 team plus 50 client users); Business $329 (two-factor sign-in, an installable mobile app as a PWA with push notifications, 30 team plus 100 client users).
  • Note: Softr counts users who share your business email domain as "team users" and everyone else as "client users".

Pick it if you're building a client portal or member area. Our Softr vs Glide guide compares the two in detail.

AppSheet: for Google Workspace teams

AppSheet is Google's no-code app builder. As of September 2026: Starter $5 per user a month, Core $10 per user a month (included with most paid Google Workspace plans), and Enterprise Plus $20 per user a month. You can build and test free with up to 10 test users. Public apps without sign-in use Publisher Pro at $50 a month per app.

Pick it if your team already uses Google Workspace, since Core may already be included.

Adalo: simple native mobile apps

Adalo is a visual builder for web apps and native iOS and Android apps. As of September 2026, billed annually: Free (500 records per app, no published apps), Starter $36 a month (1 published app with App Store publishing and a custom domain), Professional $52 (2 apps, 5 editors, push notifications) and Team $160 (5 apps, 10 editors). Adalo says it has no usage-based charges.

Pick it if you need a straightforward app in the stores. See Adalo alternatives for more mobile options.

FlutterFlow and Bubble: more power, more to learn

FlutterFlow builds mobile, web and desktop apps visually and lets you download the source code. As of September 2026, Basic is $39 a month on monthly billing (annual billing saves about 25%), with code download and one-click App Store deployment.

Bubble is a mature platform for complex web apps that now covers native mobile too. As of September 2026, Starter is $59 a month billed annually and includes 5 mobile build submissions a month.

Pick one if your app has outgrown what Glide does and you're willing to spend real time learning a bigger tool. See Bubble alternatives.

Mythex: a custom web app from a description

Mythex is an AI app builder. Instead of arranging components on screens, you describe the app in chat and an AI agent writes the code, runs it in a live preview, and publishes it to yourname.mythex.app. It adds a dedicated Postgres database when your app needs one. For logins, you bring your own sign-in provider and the agent wires it in; see the authentication recipe.

  • Pricing (from our docs): Free is $0 with 5 credits a day (up to 30 a month). Pro is $25 a month or $250 a year with more credits, a full code editor, export and GitHub sync, and custom domains. Collaborators are unlimited with no per-seat fees, and hosting and the database are paid from the same credit balance as building.
  • Where Glide is better: Glide keeps your data live in a spreadsheet your team already edits and gives you a visual editor. With Mythex you describe changes or edit code, and there's no live spreadsheet sync out of the box. Mythex's Android and iPhone apps (on Pro) wrap the web app, so they don't have fully native screens.

Pick it if you want a custom tool shaped around your process, with code you can own. See how to turn a spreadsheet into an app and no-code vs AI app builders.

Verdict

  • Stay with Glide if your team lives in spreadsheets and the Business plan's user allowance fits.
  • Softr for client portals and permission-heavy internal tools.
  • AppSheet if you're on Google Workspace.
  • Adalo for a simple native app in the stores.
  • FlutterFlow or Bubble for bigger, more complex apps.
  • Mythex for a custom web app from a description, with code you can export.

Before you move, export your data from Glide Tables or keep it in the spreadsheet, and list every screen and workflow your team relies on. That list is the real spec for whatever you build next. Our guide to building an internal tool can help you write it.
