CNC Machine Shop Software for Quoting, Job Travelers and Revision Control

Mythex lets a CNC machine shop build an RFQ page that takes drawings and CAD files, a quoting tool that separates setup, programming and cycle time, a customer portal that makes the drawing revision impossible to miss, and a schedule that plans backward from ship date including anodizing. Describe your shop in chat, check the live preview and publish with a real database.

Where a job shop makes or loses money

A machine shop's profit is decided at the quote. Requests for quote arrive with a drawing, a quantity and a tight deadline, and the estimate depends on guessing cycle time, setup and material on a spreadsheet. If the guess is low, the job runs at a loss; if it is high, the quote is lost and nobody records why. On the floor, jobs compete for the same machines, tooling and inspection time, and outside processes like heat treatment or anodizing add days that the schedule forgot. The costliest mistake is machining to an old drawing revision. A shop needs quotes, revisions, travelers and actual hours connected so each job teaches the next estimate.

  • RFQs with drawing and CAD uploads, quantity and due date
  • Quotes built from material, setup, programming and cycle time
  • Price breaks by quantity
  • The drawing revision tied to every order
  • Outside processes planned into the ship date
  • Quoted against actual hours on every job

What you can build for cnc machine shops

Quotes built from setup, programming and cycle time

Each quote line adds material cost, setup time, programming time, cycle time per part at your machine rate, and outside processes. Quantity breaks spread setup across more parts. Tolerance, finish and inspection assumptions are written on the quote, and each quote links to the drawing revision it was based on.

Build a quoting tool for my CNC machine shop. For each part I enter material and blank size, setup hours, programming hours, cycle time per part, machine (with an hourly rate per machine) and outside processes like anodizing. Show prices at quantities of 1, 10, 50 and 250, list tolerance and finish assumptions, and record the drawing revision quoted.

A capabilities page engineers can filter by

List each machine with axis count, travel or turning diameter, the materials you cut regularly, realistic tolerances and inspection equipment. The RFQ form accepts drawings and CAD files with quantity and deadline.

Build a website for my CNC machine shop with a machine list (axes, travels, turning diameter), materials we machine regularly, tolerances and inspection equipment, photos of sample parts with material noted, and an RFQ form that accepts PDF drawings and STEP files with quantity and required date.

A customer portal built around revision control

Customers upload drawings and revisions, with the current one clearly marked and older ones greyed out. Each order shows the revision it is made to and its status: programming, machining, outside process, inspection, shipped. Inspection reports and material certs download per order, and repeat orders go against an existing part number.

Make a customer portal for my machine shop. Customers upload drawings with a revision letter; the latest revision is highlighted and old ones are marked superseded. Each order shows part number, revision, quantity and status (programming, machining, outside process, inspection, shipped), with inspection reports and material certificates to download. Flag any open order whose revision is no longer current.

A schedule that plans backward from ship date

Jobs are sequenced by machine, grouping materials and fixtures to cut setups. Programming and first-article inspection go before production, outside process lead times are counted in, and operators are matched to machines they can run.

Build a job scheduling app for my machine shop. Each job has operations on specific machines with hours, outside processes with vendor lead times, and a ship date. Schedule backward from the ship date, put programming and first-article inspection before production, group jobs by material on each machine, and show jobs at risk of missing ship date.

Quoted against actual hours, by machine

See estimated and actual hours per job and machine, utilisation through the week, jobs at risk, and quote win rate by customer. After a few months you know which part families you underquote.

Make a dashboard for my machine shop: quoted versus actual setup and cycle hours per job grouped by part family and machine, machine utilisation per week, jobs at risk of being late, and quote win rate and value by customer.

Material with certs and tooling with reorder levels

Track bar and plate by material, size and heat number, store material certificates against the stock, and link them to the jobs that use it. Tooling and inserts carry reorder levels.

Create an inventory app for my machine shop. Bar stock and plate are tracked by material, size, length and heat number with the mill certificate attached. Record which job used which stock. Tooling and inserts have reorder levels, and finished parts on scheduled releases are held per customer.

Start with actual hours

Before rebuilding quoting, start recording real setup and cycle times on every job. Operators log start and stop per operation on a shop-floor tablet. After a month, group jobs into part families and use the actuals as the basis of your quote tool. Then put the customer portal live for repeat customers, beginning with revision control.

  • Operators log times per operation
  • Part families built from a month of actuals
  • Portal for repeat customers

Traceability and customer requirements

Customers in aerospace, medical or defence supply chains may require material traceability, first-article reports and specific documentation. Record those requirements on the customer, link certs to stock at receipt, and attach inspection results to each order. Mythex builds the records; the quality standards your customers require are yours to meet and audit.

Questions

Can customers upload CAD files and drawings?

Yes. The RFQ form and portal accept files such as PDF drawings and STEP models, stored privately with the request. Previewing 3D models in the browser would need an extra viewer you ask for.

Can it calculate quotes automatically?

Yes, from the numbers you enter: material, setup, programming, cycle time and machine rate. It does not read a CAD file and estimate cycle time for you.

Can it stop us machining to an old revision?

It can flag it. Each order records its revision, and when a newer one is uploaded for that part the open orders are highlighted for review.

Do I need programming skills?

No. You describe the workflow in shop terms and Mythex builds the app. On Pro you can edit or export the code if you want to.

What does it cost?

The Free plan needs no card and gives daily credits to build and publish. Pro is $25/month and adds a custom domain, code editing and export.
